2013-2014 Turkey Hunting Seasons

The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission shows that Phillips County is split into 4 zones for turkey hunting. We have portions of zones 4, 5B, 10, and 17. Here are the seasons for those zones.

Turkey
Zones: 1; 2; 3; 4B; 5; 5B; 6; 7; 7A; 8; 9; 10; 17
Opens: 4/19/2014
Closes: 5/4/2014
Shooting Hours: 30 Minutes Before Sunrise Until 30 Minutes After Sunset
Limits: The statewide bag limit is two adult gobblers or bearded hens, no jakes. Zone bag limit: Two adult gobblers or bearded hens, no jakes. Hunters 6 to 15 years old may harvest one jake as part of their two-bird limit during the season (including the youth hunt). No more than one turkey may be taken per day.

Closes: 4/27/2014
Shooting Hours: 30 Minutes Before Sunrise Until 30 Minutes After Sunset
Limits: The statewide bag limit is two adult gobblers or bearded hens, no jakes. Zone bag limit: One bearded turkey, no jakes. Hunters who kill a turkey in one of these zones must travel to any other zone (including other one-bird-limit zones) to harvest a second turkey. Hunters 6 to 15 years old may harvest one jake as part of their two-bird limit during the season (including the youth hunt). No more than one turkey may be taken per day.

2013-2014 April Turkey Youth Hunt Hunting Season

Opens: 4/12/2014
Closes: 4/13/2014
Shooting Hours: 30 Minutes Before Sunrise Until 30 Minutes After Sunset
Limits: The statewide bag limit is two adult gobblers or bearded hens. Hunters must follow the zone bag limits of the zones in which they hunt. Hunters who are 6 to 15 years old may harvest one jake as part of their two-bird limit during the season (including the youth hunt). No more than one turkey may be taken per day.
More: Only hunters 6 to 15 years old may hunt turkeys during the special youth turkey hunt. Youths who have completed hunter education must be accompanied by an adult mentor who is 18 or older. Youths who have not completed hunter education must be under the direct supervision of an adult mentor who is 21 or older.

2014 Whitetail Deer January Special Youth Modern Gun Hunting Season

The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has Phillips County split into four zones which are 4A, 5A, 9, and 17. Here are the January Special Youth Modern Gun hunting seasons for those zones.

Zones: 1; 10; 11; 12; 13; 14; 15; 16; 16A; 17; 1A; 2; 3; 4; 4A; 4B; 5; 5A; 5B; 6; 6A; 7; 8; 8A; 9
Opens: 1/4/2014
Closes: 1/5/2014
Shooting Hours: 30 Minutes Before Sunrise Until 30 Minutes After Sunset
Limits: Only youths 6 to 15 years old may harvest deer during the special youth modern gun deer hunt (see exceptions below).

Youths who have completed hunter education must be accompanied by an adult at least 18 years old.
Youths who have not completed hunter education must be under the direct supervision of an adult at least 21.
Youths may harvest the modern gun limit of bucks and does for the zone they are hunting during the youth hunt. (NOTE: Antler-point restrictions for bucks do not apply to youth hunters any time during this hunt or the rest of deer season.)

All deer harvested count toward the youth’s seasonal bag limit.
No dogs.

Exceptions: Bowhunters may hunt during the youth hunt, but must wear hunter orange; WMAs with permit-based deer hunts are closed to the Special Youth Modern Gun Deer Hunt.

Limits: Mourning dove daily limit is 15. Possession limit is 30. No daily limit or possession limit on Eurasian Collared Dove.

Phillips County is split into three zones (7, 5, and 5A) of which only two have open gun bear seasons.

Closes: 12/8/2013
Shooting Hours: 30 Minutes Before Sunrise Until 30 Minutes After Sunset.
Limits: Season bag limit is one statewide by any method in any zone.
Bear zone 5 has a quota of 10 bears. Hunters must call 800-440-1477 the evening before the hunt to check the harvest number. The season will end the morning after the quota is reached or Dec. 8, whichever comes first.
More: Bait, foodstuffs or the use of any kind of lure to attract bears are not allowed except on private lands in zone 2 from Sept. 1 until Nov. 30.

Dogs are allowed Nov. 9-Dec. 25.

Limits: Daily limit is 6. Possession limit is 12.
More: While training bird dogs, you may use handguns or shotguns with blank ammunition. Pen-raised quail may be taken with a Shoot-To-Kill Bird Dog Field Training Permit. This permit is available from your local wildlife officer.
